The Torricella in Monforte d’Alba is one of those locations that doesn’t need to be explained. You look at it and you already understand everything: the stone walls, the rows of vines around, the cuisine that speaks Piedmontese without compromises – tajarin, plin, fassona. It is a place that has a precise identity, and those who choose it usually do so because they recognize that same identity as their own.
Jessica and Simone were like that. A first of July 2023 in which the Langhe was already summer – warm light, still air, the Monforte d’Alba vineyards at their greenest. Paola Casetta had taken care of every detail with that calm precision that someone who has known the area for years has: she already knows where the light falls in the afternoon, she already knows how a day moves in that courtyard, she already knows what to ask and what to let go.

Independent Pictures worked in sync — the kind of collaboration where you don’t talk to each other much, you understand each other quickly and get out of each other’s way when necessary. The result is that the images breathe, they have space. A day like the one at Torricella doesn’t ask to be filled — it asks to be observed.

The July light in the Langhe does the work on its own: it comes in low in the afternoon, takes the vineyards sideways, and transforms any courtyard into something that seems painted.
